Consultation on proposals to amend the 2015 ABPI Code of Practice

Consultation launched on proposed changes to the ABPI Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry and the Constitution and Procedure for the Prescription Medicines Code of Practice Authority.

Press Release 27 July 2015

Changes are proposed to the 2015 ABPI Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry and the PMCPA Constitution and Procedure. There are a number of reasons for the changes including the work done by the group established by the ABPI Board of Management to review the Code and the views of the ABPI Board of Management itself. Changes are also needed to take account of the end of the transition from the aggregate disclosure (2012 Code) of certain payments. These were UK requirements prior to the EFPIA Code on Disclosure of Transfers of Value from Pharmaceutical Companies to Healthcare Professionals and Healthcare Organisations. The unaccredited ABPI representative’s examination will finish on 31 December 2015 and thus amendments are needed. Companies need to ensure that staff currently studying for this examination pass it by the end of 2015.

The attached documents set out proposals to amend the ABPI Code and the Constitution and Procedure:

1 Proposals to amend the ABPI Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry
2 Proposals to amend the PMCPA Constitution and Procedure

The consultation closes on Friday, 11 September.
