What does the requirement that 'the name or photograph of a member of a health profession must not be used in any way that is contrary to the conventions of that profession’ mean? What activity(ies) are we trying to avoid?

  • 9.3

9.3 The name or photograph of a member of a health profession must not be used in any way that is contrary to the conventions of that profession.

As health professional codes etc state that they must not be involved in product endorsement, therefore their name or photograph must not be used in any manner which advertises medicines. Companies need to bear in mind other requirements in the Code when a health professional speaks on behalf of a company. Clause 9.3.
